Dr. Vincent Lepore has seen more plastic surgery patients add options such as Brazilian butt lift to their Mommy Makeover procedures at his San Jose practice.
San Jose, California (July 2015) — Dr. Vincent Lepore (www.vincentleporemd.com) says women coming in for Mommy Makeover procedures at his San Jose practice are seeking new options such as Brazilian butt lift, a trend the board-certified plastic surgeon says reflects how the combination surgery can be customized.
“A Mommy Makeover isn’t a one-size-fits-all procedure,” Dr. Lepore says. “It’s truly customized to meet the unique cosmetic goals of each patient, and lately Brazilian butt lifts have become a very popular choice.”
Mommy Makeover is a term used to describe a combination of cosmetic plastic surgery procedures done all at once, the San Jose surgeon says. Each component is meant to address the physical changes that often follow pregnancy and breastfeeding, such as fluctuating weight, stretched abdominal skin and muscles, and the loss of breast volume.
Dr. Lepore says that this type of combination surgery is also ideal for women who aren’t moms but who experience similar physical issues after losing a substantial amount of weight.
“The typical Mommy Makeover,” Dr. Lepore says, “includes a tummy tuck, liposuction, and cosmetic breast surgery such as breast augmentation.”
At his San Jose, CA practice, he says, patients have recently been adding other choices to their operations, including the popular Brazilian butt lift and even facial rejuvenation.
There have been a number of recent advances in liposuction and fat transfer techniques, along with minimally invasive treatments such as laser skin resurfacing, Dr. Lepore says. Because these treatments can now be done more effectively and faster, they can easily be added to a Mommy Makeover without significantly affecting operating time or the patient’s recovery. He says patients appreciate combining treatments because overall it’s more cost-effective and convenient.
Dr. Lepore, who served on the voluntary clinical staff at Stanford University Medical Center where he completed his residency, says it’s important that patients research the plastic surgeons they are considering very carefully before deciding on a combination procedure.
“Even though combining surgeries is common and safe,” he says, “patients should make sure the surgeon they choose is experienced in performing Mommy Makeovers. These are slightly longer and more complex procedures than a typical surgery, so it’s crucial to find a doctor who has great credentials.”
Dr. Lepore encourages patients to carefully check surgeons’ qualifications and ensure they are certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgery, in addition to having specialized training.
“During a consultation, asking questions is very important,” he says. “Surgeons should be able to say how many combination surgeries they perform each month and have before-and-after photos of their patients who underwent Mommy Makeovers.”
